Open Mic Night - Analysis - 11/10/2012
Last night was the open mic night. Over all the outcome was pretty good and everybody performed very well, but as always there is always room for improvement.
Some of the things I would improve are:
Some of the things I would improve are:
- Start the event a bit later because people were showing up later and missing the beginning acts.
- Plan the timing of each act a bit better so then we have more of an accurate lineup to go by when it comes to the actual night. We could do this by timing each act in preperation for the night and then using that as a template of when everybody is coming on and how long the night is actually going to last.
- We should have gone to the venue before we set a date and time for the gig to see how we were going to set everything up and how much equipment we actually needed so that when we got there on the day we only needed to take minimal equipment and use a suitable amount of space without getting in the way of anything.
- When we performed on the night everybody had forgotten about filming the event as a record of how everybody did when performing. Although some acts did manage to get recorded not all of them were which is a real shame because they all went so well. So for next time everybody should organise someone to take photos and record each act for the event.
- Health and safety was a real issue with the open mic night because when performing, the stage was too small and some people were blocking access too and from the toilets and fire exits which became quite an issue when people wanted to go to the toilet during someones performance.

Open Mic Night - Update - 17/09/2012
Up until now Emma from the pomotion team have managed to create an event on facebook and invite all of their friends to it. Ben from the Venue team has managed to create a group on facebook and invite all of the people from the Music Performance Subsidary Diploma class to it so that we have a better way of contacting everyone.
The other Music Performance class got in contact with us today and let us know all of their plans for their seperately organised Open Mic Night. They told us the venue they are using, where it is, the day it is on and the time it starts. This has managed to help us plan our night around theirs so that they dont interact with eachother and so that we are able to attend eachothers. Because their venue is better than our original idea we have decided to use it, the owners of the venue are also very pro the idea of an Open Mic Night to attract students so it will promote their venue quite nicely.

Open Mic Night - So far - 14/09/2012
The Open Mic Night is coming on quite nicely. So far we have split the class up into three different groups:
- Musicians:
This group needs to find out who is playing what on the night and how long they are going to be playing for. They also need to work out the lineup of who is playing and when.
- Venue:
This group needs to sort out where the open mic night is going to be held. They have also been given the task of organising contact between the rest of the groups and refreshements at the venue.
- Promotion:
I have been put in the group for promoting the night. Our job is to try and promote the night as much as possibile so that we have a good crowd to perform too. We have been asked to design fliers, hand them out, name the event and create an event on facebook to boost the potential amount of people attending.
